 First of several major deals announced in far reaching corporate social responsibility program Delray Beach, FL July 29, 2009 – Best Kiteboarding, a division of Best Action Sports, Inc. and a leading brand in the kiteboarding industry, today announced that it is offsetting the entire carbon footprint created by its U.S. operations and global shipping, and is directly contributing to the construction of new wind and solar power facilities across the United States. In a formal agreement with a division of NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, North America’s largest producer of wind and solar energy, Best is purchasing renewable energy credits that benefit the EarthEra Renewable Energy Trust. One hundred percent of the proceeds of those credits support the construction of new renewable energy facilities throughout North America. Best and NextEra have been in active negotiation of this agreement since October, 2008. "As a company that is quite literally driven by wind and is dependent on a clean and beautiful natural environment, Best Kiteboarding is committed to environmental protection and to conducting business in a sustainable manner,” said Ian M. Huschle, President and CEO of Best Action Sports. “These issues are of enormous concern to us and our customers. Since everyone who kiteboards knows what sort of power the wind can generate, a partnership with the leading provider of wind energy was a natural fit for Best and gives us a unique opportunity to aggressively act on our core beliefs.” "EarthEra is excited to begin this initiative with Best Kiteboarding," said Nate Hanson, vice president, NextEra Energy Power Marketing. With over 600 retail accounts in 60 countries, it is committed to supporting a sustainable and safe environment everywhere. Other projects and partnerships near completion include a used kite recycling program, use of recycled materials in bags, apparel and accessories, beach cleanups, safety programs, and workshops for the preservation of beach access. |
