Miracle Kite Cup Montenegro 2009
Russian Open Kiteboarding Cup

Kiteboarding tour Miracle Kite Cup Montenegro 2009 closed in Montenegro in the end of the last week. In the open freestyle competition Sergey Belmesov from Solnechnogorsk, which means a Sunny City in Russian, turned the best. Artem Garaschenko from Ekaterinburg was the best in the amateurs’ category. Alexander Ischenko from Rostov came first in long-distance. And for the first time in many years it took just two days to identify the strongest. Miracle Beach, Montenegro hosted the competition held by the Russian Kiteboarding Association with the support of Astra Montenegro and Miracle World. The spot is just perfect – white sunbeds, skate ramp, trampoline, the clearest in Europe Adriatics and the most important of all – the wind. The prize money for Miracle Kite Cup Montenegro 2009 was 10 thousand euro – the amount just a little less than for some of the events of the World Contest. And that’s not to mention the prizes from Skull Candy and Liquid Force.

Day 1
All Russian pro attended besides those from Anapa, who lost all the money in a robbery. Yet a couple local sportsmen joined the competitions. The first day meeting and seeding was passed quickly as perfectly as scheduled the wind came and the competition started off with the juniors: for the first time in the history of the Russian tour youngsters aged 9-14 were given the arena. The youngsters’ results counted in triathlon, and kite was followed with the skate ramp and the trampoline. As the wind strengthened to 10-12 ms Pro and Amateurs entered the water. Single elimination was completed in 5 hours in both categories, plus the quarterfinals of the juniors. The final heat, in which the champions of 2008 and 2007 met, was of course the most intriguing. Right before the heat the wind changes and turned gusty. The riders had to repeat the heat and as repeated Sergey Belmesov, last year’s champion showed weaker, while Evgeny Novozheev came best.
