When you invest in top quality kiteboarding gear, you want to know it’s durable. But as careful as you are- there is always a possibility that your kite could rip or tear, therefore, it’s very handy to have some practical knowledge on basic kite repair. Here are four easy kite bladder repair steps, using Glufix and Fiberfix (by KiteFix), that will have your kite looking as good as new in no time.
![]() Step 1 In order to remove any dirt or oil from the damaged canopy, clean the kite with an alcohol swab. This will ensure adhesion of the Glufix and Fiberfix. Then, give it a few minutes to dry. Step 2 Place the Fiberfix on the underside of the tear. Applying it to the underside will give it a clean and neat look. Step 3 Apply a coat of Glufix over the Fiberfix. A good trick for repairing with precision is to tape off the area surrounding the tear with either painters tape or electrical tape. Be sure to remove the tape immediately after you apply the Glufix. Allow Glufix to dry (approximately 20 minutes). Step 4 Once the Glufix is dry, apply a second coat to the other side of the tear and again, allow the Glufix to dry. Note that Kitefix repair kits have enough Glufix and Fiberfix to repair a canopy tear 48” long, so if the tear is longer, be sure to purchase a Kitefix Ripstop refill kit. Happy kiting!
